I have been following the Pride seris and since the first book with Todd & Megan was so likeable, I wanted to know what would happen with the rest of the Jordan Siblings. My problem with this book was the way in which it was written. I felt disconnected from the characters because it felt as though the author was describing the events occurring in the book, instead of allowing the reader to be part of the book.
For example, I didn't like the way time moved in this book. The author would describe weeks having lapsed, but we don't get a feel for what occurred in those weeks. Another example is at the Christmas party. It's like everything happens inside the characters head, and we are only given that pov, instead of actually being at the party while it's happening.
Maybe my explanation isn't clear, but overall I felt it was an effort to finish the book. Maybe the editing needs to be looked at more closely, I noticed some editing mistakes in this book that I didn't pick up in the previous one.
Hoping the rest of the series gets better,

I really enjoyed this book and reading about the Jordan family. This book is about Lacey Jordan who owns and runs a restaurant. She meets the new town Dr. in an unexpected way which is funny. Lacey is a tiny woman with a heart of gold and a temper! I loved her. Aaron is the Dr and he is fighting some issues from his past but it is obvious he is falling for Lacey. This book had humor, romance, steam, suspense and great family moments. Excellent book and can't wait for the next one in the series.
This is the second book in the series. Lacey and her 2 brothers are such incredible characters! I adored them! This book was so refreshing. So wonderful. I Love the Jordan's and really felt like i was part of their family. There is so much depth to these characters. I laughed with them, cried with them, cheered them on! Wonderfully written. I have already started re reading the series because i am so in love with these characters, I wasnt ready to let them go yet!
The second book in the pride series. This book is focus on Lacey from the Jordan clan. She and the new doctor Aaron Stevens are instantly attracted to each other when they accidentally meet up in the pond both swimming in the nude. From there on the story deals with Aaron overcoming a relationship(one of the reasons he moved to pride and replace his grandfather in his practice.) She is dealing with letting go and allowing herself to care for Aaron. Near the end of the book there some serious drama that goes down and a part of me felt one main issue was never explained(maybe in the next book). I still prefer first book over this sequel.
Funny, disappointing and interesting view of DV. This story has a lot of interesting twists. Lead characters romance has them sharing and shedding emotional baggage. The ex-fiancée who won't stay gone is a great addition. A different view of DV. Iian's story sounds interesting.
Disappointing
"He was a priest who believed in preaching at the congregation instead of to them."
Iian
"His sister, who had always seemed in control of every aspect of her life, seemed nothing but frustrated and dazed around the doctor.
Smiling a little, he opened the door just as the pair jumped apart on the couch. This made him smile even more. What a great ending to a terrible day; this was going to be fun."
I may re-read this story. I am interested in other woks by this author.
I listen to this in an audio and totally enjoyed it. I loved the narrator she bought the story to life for me. The author write a wonderful tale that I could not wait to see how it would end.The characters were really down to earth that you really just want to get to know better. The story held my interests and for me was a page turner.
I did feel the book ended to soon, a lot was left out. I would have loved to know how his parents dealt with him and his marriage. I would have enjoyed to have read what happen to his ex.
What I enjoyed was knowing that Aaron found his family after a very unhappy childhood. He is such a wonderful sweet man, you could feel his pain and can understand why he had trust issues. He gave so much of his self to so many it was nice to see things move down a good path for him.
Lacey is a wonderful character for someone so small she really stands out. She is just to sweet and kind, anyone around her will fall in love. She has had to deal with a lot over the years. She is a very strong women but knows when she needs to give a little space.
There are a lot of wonderful characters in this series, it will be a pleasure to see how the author takes this series. She writes about some serious issues and handles those issues very well. I look forward to reading/listening to more from this author.
I really liked this story. I like the story plot, the characters, and the beautiful descriptions of all the people, places, and all the happenings taking place around this tiny NW Oregon town, called Pride.
But I must admit that the first few chapters felt like they were written by someone more immature. After those first few chapters, though, the writing became much more professional looking. I loved the closeness between Lacey and her brothers, and I felt so badly for the way Aaron had grown up all alone. I'm also glad the the angst part of the story wasn't a long drawn out affair, like it is with most stories. I am so glad that Lacey & Aaron finally got their HEA, even though it wasn't an easy road for them. But....I thought the ending could have been much better.
I felt like the book ended too soon, a lot was left out. I would have loved to know how his parents dealt with him, and his upcoming marriage plans. I would have enjoyed to have read what happen to his hateful ex after her murder attempt on Lacey.....hopefully her butt was thrown in jail, and she'll end up staying there for a long, long time to come.
